What to check and when, to keep a Brisbane home safe and in good shape.

Monthly

Good to know

Queensland requires interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms in every bedroom of all homes by 1 January 2027. Hard-wired alarms need an electrician.

Large branches over the roof or power lines need an arborist.

Spring

Sep – Nov

Deck oiling, pressure cleaning, storm prep: gutters, loose items, branches.

Summer

Dec – Feb

Aircon filters monthly, watch for mould, ceiling fans.

Autumn

Mar – May

Gutters after leaf drop, check for storm damage, prune.

Winter

Jun – Aug

Interior painting, fences and pergolas, reseal silicone.
