Aftercare Tips
Thank you for choosing John. Here are a few simple tips to keep the work looking its best. Only the sections for your job apply, and the product label always comes first.
Decks & Timber Oiling
- Keep feet and pets off for 24 hours; wait 48 hours before putting furniture and pots back.
- Avoid hosing or wet mopping for the first week.
- Sweep with a soft broom. Please don’t pressure wash oiled timber.
- Put pot plants on feet so water doesn’t pool and stain the boards.
- Re-coat about every 12 months in full sun, or sooner if boards look grey or water soaks in.
Fences, Pergolas & Outdoor Furniture
- Keep sprinklers off freshly stained timber for 48 hours.
- Allow furniture 48 hours to cure before using or covering it.
- Wipe furniture down monthly and store cushions under cover.
- Re-stain fences and pergolas every 2–3 years.
Painting & Touch-Ups
- Keep rooms aired for a day or two.
- Paint is dry in hours but takes about 2 weeks to harden, so avoid scrubbing walls until then.
- Keep the labelled leftover paint for future touch-ups.
Pressure Cleaning
- Surfaces can be slippery while wet, so take care for a few hours.
- Mould returns faster in shady, damp spots; a yearly clean keeps it under control.
- Sealing pavers or concrete helps them stay clean for longer.
Gutters
- Check downpipes flow freely after the next heavy rain.
- Clear gutters every 6 months, or every 3 months with overhanging trees.
Windows & Screens
- Vacuum tracks and wipe screens every 3 months so doors keep sliding smoothly.
Seasonal Cleaning
- Clean aircon filters every 3 months, or monthly with heavy summer use.
- Dust ceiling and exhaust fans each season.
Orchid Care
- Water about once a week in warm months and less in winter; let pots drain well.
- Give bright, indirect light and avoid harsh afternoon sun.
- Feed with a weak orchid fertiliser every 2 weeks while growing.
- Don’t let water sit in the centre of the plant.
Handyman Jobs
- Allow adhesives and fillers 24 hours before loading or painting.
- If anything works loose, let John know and he’ll come back to fix it.
